GREETINGS FROM LARRY

Dear Friends,

A new year is upon us and the campaign is off to a great New Year! Thank you for your ongoing support for the Morrissey for Mayor campaign. I continue to be encouraged and humbled by the growing number of supporters and volunteers for this campaign. Our Rockford community is filled with many outstanding volunteers, residents, and business owners who know the potential of this community. People like you know we can do better and are excited about the real opportunity for a positive leadership change and a breath of fresh air!

Next week, we will take the official step of submitting our formal petition packet to get on the ballot for the general election on April 5. As you may recall, as an independent candidate, we have been required to obtain almost 2,000 signatures to get on the ballot as opposed to a few dozen signatures required for the party candidates. This is an important step and I want to thank all of you who have been working so hard to circulate petitions to get us on the ballot.

If you have not yet asked for a yard sign, please fill out a request at the web site, as you will really start to see those signs pop up over the next few weeks. Also, to keep the march going to the April 5 election, we have the ongoing need to raise funds in order to get our message out. As with the 2001 election, a lot of money will be coming in from Springfield and other parts of the state to support the current administration. In order for us to make sure this community sets a ROCKFORD AGENDA and not a Springfield or Chicago agenda, we need your support.

Please join us on February 2, 2005 at our major grass-roots fund raising event for the campaign, Around the World in Rockford '05: A Celebration of Rockford's Ethnic & Cultural Diversity. This event will be held at Giovanni's from 6-9pm on February 2, 2005. Many of you will remember this wonderful event from the last campaign where we had over 800 people share the finest of Rockford's diverse, locally owned eateries and culture. You can check out the web site for more details on the event.

I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail and at Around the World in Rockford '05 on February 2.
